ELCOMA extends membership to all Manufacturers in the Lighting Industry ELCOMA, is an Association of Electrical Lighting Manufacturers in India. Till recently, membership to this Association was restricted only to lamp and component manufacturers, but by a decision in the Governing Body it has been decided to extend membership to manufacturers of luminaires and accessories as well The lighting industry in India is gorwing at nearly 20% per annum over the last two to three years to an annual turnover of Rupees 5000 crores plus. In order to focus attention on this industry and ensure that it derives the maximum attention by the policy makers within the Government, Elcoma has established a Secretariat in Delhi to follow up not only with the Government, but with all concerned decision makers Recognizing the Government policy of reserving certain lighting areas of manufacture for the Small Scale, Elcoma has now opened its doors to this sector. The association has, already been accepted by all concerned as the apex body for the total lighting industry. This has enabled the association to represent to the Government for issues and problems faced by the industry, and its success in this regard is quite well known The association is also involved with the Indian Society of Lighting Engineers on ISI specifications and acceptance of mandatory ISI marking |

| ELCOMA signs “MANILA COMPACT” to develop a quality identification system for integrated compact fluorescent lamps in Asia During the third meeting of Asia CFL group held at Manila on 6th June 2008, an M.O.U was signed by various manufacturers and Lighting associations to achieve a goal to bring in more energy efficient lighting products and provide a high quality CFL within the Asian countries. The initiative was taken by US AID to bring together these countries to work towards reaching the goal.
